Welcome to the ENT, Voice & Swallow Institute of Colorado, LLC website, the practice of Andre L. Reed, M.D., Neurolaryngologist. We hope you find this currently evolving website, both informative and useful. Our doors opened on September 24, 2001 on the Campus of Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO. This website includes several links to help answer general Ear, Nose, and Throat questions as well as general health concerns for men, women and the older population. The emphasis of this site is on voice and swallowing disorders.
Dr. Reed received his Residency training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery from The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He received his Fellowship training in Neurolaryngology from the same institution. Johns Hopkins Hospital has been rated the #1 hospital in the nation for the past 9 years in a row. Dr. Reed is also a member of the Colorado Neurological Institute and has an affiliation with the Vocal Arts Medicine Center at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. In addition to the practice of general Ear, Nose and Throat surgery, Dr. Reed specializes in disorders of the sinuses, voice box, and swallowing function. Common problems diagnosed with state-of-the-art digital video strobescopic equipment includes but is not limited to: Chronic sore throat, Laryngitis, Hoarseness, Nerve injury to the vocal cords resulting in paralysis or impaired movement of the vocal cords, therapy for the Professional Voice, Spasmodic Dysphonia, Recurrent Respiratory Papilloma therapy, Vocal cord Cysts, Polyps, and Nodules, Gastric acid Reflux therapy, Laryngeal Cancer treatment, therapy for the Aging Voice, and Swallowing difficulty. Treatment strategies will incorporate the services of a certified Voice Therapist when necessary.
The latest technology is used for voice restoration. One such technique is a vocal cord medialization procedure performed in our office using Cymetra (micronized Alloderm) which is human collagen. This has proven to be effective at improving the neurologically impaired voice. Nerve injury resulting in vocal cord paralysis or motion impairment can be treated by this technique. This procedure has also been shown to improve swallow function by reducing or eliminating the incidence of aspiration (choking) while swallowing when it is caused by vocal cord dysfunction. If you would like more information on this or other therapies provided by our office, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Reed.
